Connecting Handicrafts with Domestic Retail & e-Commerce

A 'Round Table Conference on Retail and e-Commerce' was organised by EPCH on 15th October, 2016 at the India Expo Centre. The conference was moderated by Mr. Kumar Rajagopalan - CEO, Retailers Association of India, while Mr. Vikram Chitnis - Business Head, Shoppers Stop; Mr. Nitin Jain - Managing Director, J. Nitin Merchandising & INV Home; Mr. Vikas Dhingra - Partner, Specialty Merchandising Services Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Karan Jethwani - Proprietor, International Trade Linkers and Coordinator-Domestic Retail Promotions at EPCH and Mr. 0. P. Prahladka - Vice Chairman, EPCH attended as speakers and participants. The growth of consumerism and potential to build India as a consumer based economy led the discussions in the conference. In addition, the importance of serving to increasing domestic demand of Indian handicrafts along with catering to exports was also discussed. It was opined that a strong retail channel along with e-commerce will add thrust to increasing demand in the handicraft sector.
